We are Book Launchers. We help thought leaders and people with a powerful story write, publish, and sell impact-driven non-fiction books. Our goal isn’t just to help our clients get a book published. We want to help our clients create a great book that achieves their business goals. To achieve that, we do a wide range of things to support our clients including website and social media auditing, email newsletter guidance, media pitching, speaking engagement support and pitching, and even look for and negotiate wholesale book sale opportunities. We are also developing our offerings around selling a book online, and that is where we need more support!

We’re looking for someone who has a gift for writing copy that sells, who knows their way around online and is ready for a challenge. If you like uncovering interesting and alternative opportunities to sell a book to the ideal reader – that’s a bonus.

We have brilliant folks on our team that you’ll work alongside to help our clients succeed. You will report directly to our Book Marketing Manager, and play a key role in supporting all the marketing activities that we do to help our clients get their books into the hands of readers.

This role will begin with a short contract as a test and then move to part-time. As your work grows within our organization, the option to move to full-time will be presented to you.

What is your role?

Work alongside our Book Marketing Manager to audit client websites and social media, run Amazon ads, draft compelling copy for social media posts, email campaigns, and identify other online marketing opportunities to help sell books.

These book sales directly benefit our authors. Book Launchers is not a vanity publisher or a traditional publishing company. Our authors retain all control and ownership over the content and keep all royalties. We provide the team and the guidance to help our authors not only write and publish but also to achieve their business objectives through their book. It’s not just about selling books (although you are going to play an important role in making that happen!).  It’s about using a book to build a business, boost a brand, become a recognized expert all while sharing valuable expertise and experience with others.

As a direct report to the Book Marketing Manager, you will be involved in every book launch. You’ll be a driving force behind our mission to be the choice for book publishing, not the alternative.

Specific Tasks Include:

  1. Write compelling book descriptions and author bios with copy that sells.
  2. Oversee the creation of author media kits, speaker one-pagers, book club kits, and social media posts for clients on deadline.
  3. Conduct website and social media audits for clients and draft reports for presentation.
  4. Brainstorm ideas and identify opportunities to sell more books online.
  5. Manage Amazon Ad campaigns for clients’ books and employ effective strategies to increase sales digitally.
  6. Support the book marketing team in their mission to help get books in readers’ hands – this may mean brainstorming strategy, analyzing social media platforms for clients, doing website audits, or creating some base level of content for clients.
  7. Social media strategy for Book Launchers – including planning content monthly, posting, increasing engagement and responding to interactions.
  8. Participate in company meetings and brainstorming sessions, weekly reporting.
  9. Pursue training opportunities to learn more about copywriting, email marketing, social media, and Amazon marketing.

Ultimately, you are the copywriter on call for our team, but this role is so much more than copywriting. If we need copy drafted to create emotion and inspire action, you’re going to be the one in charge of that. You will enjoy a lot of freedom to create and control your day in this job, but please don’t think this job will be easy. We are a very lean team managing a growing roster of book projects in progress and in promotion. You will have a lot of tasks to complete in a short amount of time. But, in this role, you’ll learn a lot about book promotion and book publishing, online marketing, social media and you can easily uncover areas where you can expand your role with the company if you want to do that. In fact, we expect the person who will excel in this role to be someone who can grow with the company and be managing other people in the department in the future.

We are based in Los Angeles, but the team works remotely. The majority of the team is in California, but we also have team members in Colorado, Texas, and Michigan. Ultimately, we believe that you should not battle traffic if you don’t have to.

This position will be part-time (25 hours/week) to start but if you have excellent online marketing and copywriting skills we can quickly move you to full time. Of course, if you’re awesome, and you don’t want to be full-time we can work with you on that.
